First Baptist Church "Black History Service"

 

 

On February 25, 2018, First Baptist Church, in Waverly, VA, sponsored a Black History Month activities. Our chapter president, Dr. Nieta J. Scott-Dunmore was the keynote speaker. Chapter Yvonne Williams had the pleasure of introducing her as the speaker for the program. Additionally several members of the chapter came to support.

“Preserving the Legacy of HBCUs" Workshop.

 

 

On February 23, 2018 Virginia State University, in conjunction with the Core Planning Group for the Office of Historically Black Colleges and University Development (CPG-OHBCUD, Inc.), hosted a Workshop on “Preserving the Legacy of HBCUs and Institutionalizing Support of Community Stakeholders.”

​

Our chapter president, Dr. Nieta J. Scott-Dunmore, was extended an invitation by the university to be a workshop participant. Many members of Delta Omega came to the workshop to support her.

Dinwiddie County Hometown Heroes Recognition Event

 

 

The Dinwiddie County Board of Supervisors celebrated Black History Month on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 7:00 PM. As part of this celebration they recognized citizens in the county who have made special contributions in the county and others vicinities. Delta Omega's own, Mrs. Ruby Evans, was chosen as one of the honorees. The event took place at the Pamplin Building 14016 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, VA.

AKA Sorority, Inc. Divine 9 Legislative Day at the Capitol.

 

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Virginia Connection Committee Chairmen in collaboration with the Divine Nine Organizations sponsored the 2018 Divine Nine Virginia Legislative Day on Monday, February 19, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. The event was held at the Hilton Richmond Downtown Hotel – River City Ballroom

​

Their collective presence made a great statement to our legislators and to all in attendance. The theme for this year was “A Divine Nine Call to Be the Voice in Virginia" The focus areas were 1) Gerrymandering/ Redistricting and the impact on Voting in Virginia, 2) The Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion in Virginia, and 3) Education, HBCUs and Student Aid Programs in Virginia.

Southside Elementary Student Lunch “Chat and Chew”

 

 

On February 14, 2018, our chapter president, Dr. Nieta J. Scott-Dunmore attended the Student Lunch “Chat and Chew” at Southside Elementary School in Dinwiddie, VA.

2018 Pink Goes Red Event

 

 

On February 2 2018, Delta Omega and Alpha Epsilon cheaters co-sponsored a "Pink Goes Red" event at AP Hill Elementary School, Petersburg, VA.

​

There were approximately 125 guests, outside of chapter members, in attendance.

​

We also had special guest, Ms. Black Virginia USA in attendance at the event. She spoke about some the healthy heart initiatives that the Ms. Black USA organization partners with

2018 Black History Month Kick-Off

 

 

On February 1, 2018, Delta Omega Chapter President, Dr. Nieta J. Scott-Dunmore was the keynote speaker for the Black History Month Kickoff at Southside Elementary School, Dinwiddie VA.

​

The title of her speech was "I Can Do It...I Can Be FIRST!"

​

There were approximately 517 students (Kindergarten-4th Grade) in attendance
